Butterflies of Germany

The project “Schmetterlinge Deutschlands” (“Butterflies of Germany”) creates a freely accessible distribution representation of all butterflies of Germany. You too can capture the colorful diversity of our butterflies.

You can report your finds online throughout Germany. Use the app „Schmetterlinge Deutschland“, which was published in April 2019.

It contains a list of all butterfly species known from Germany. The data are checked by experts and made available online on distribution maps. They form the basis for the compilation of the Red List of Butterflies of Germany.

The project “Butterflies of Germany” is funded by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
